As more and more of us are working from home, having a multiple monitors has become a work-from-home essential. With multiple monitors, being able to seamlessly connect them to your laptop is vital. Today, I will compare two different docks that I've been using over the last few years. The industry standard Lenovo ThinkPad USB-C UltraDock versus the top amazon rated Selore and S-Global USB-C Docking Station . Let the showdown begin!

1. Design and Build:

Selore and S-Global:

  • Multiple ports: Dual HDMI, DisplayPort, VGA, 2 USB A 2.0, USB C 2.0, and 100W PD Charging.

  • External unit design, requires connection to the laptop.

  • Potential for VGA port to come loose during attachment.

Lenovo:

  • Multiple ports: Dual HDMI, DisplayPort, 2 USB A 2.0, USB C 2.0, and 100W PD Charging.

  • One-cable connection to the laptop.

  • Compact and streamlined design.

Both the Selore and the Lenovo offer multiple display ports. The Selore model does offer the additional VGA port although it can come use while in use.

2. Price and Value for Money:

Selore and S-Global:

  • Cost-effective at $62.

Lenovo:

  • Pricier, retailing at $200.

3. Ease of Connection:

Selore and S-Global:

  • Requires connecting the entire unit to the laptop.

  • Potential for VGA port to come loose.

Lenovo:

  • Single-cable connection to the laptop for a streamlined setup.

The Lenovo is alot easier to use as it allows the unit to stay in one place while you connect the cable. On the other hand, as the main cable on the Selore is short, it requires you to move the entire unit close to your laptop with each use.

4. Performance:

Selore and S-Global:

  • Dual HDMI, DisplayPort, and VGA offer flexibility for multiple monitor setups.

  • 100W PD Charging for efficient power delivery.

Lenovo:

  • Efficient and reliable performance with a single-cable connection.

Final Recommendation:

Both docking stations have their merits, but the decision ultimately boils down to your specific needs and budget . The Selore and S-Global model shines in cost-effectiveness, providing an array of ports and features at a fraction of the price compared to the Lenovo counterpart.

If you're seeking a budget-friendly solution with versatile connectivity options for a multi-monitor setup, the Selore and S-Global docking station is the best choice.

On the other hand, the Lenovo ThinkPad USB-C UltraDock offers a streamlined and efficient solution with its one-cable connection. If you prioritize ease of use and have a higher budget, the Lenovo model might be the ideal docking station for your setup.

In summary, whether you go for the budget-friendly Selore and S-Global or the treied and true Lenovo docking station, both models will enhance your workspace and provide the connectivity needed.
